I was watching this today and hoping people were ok but its not looking good😔. I may live in Florida now, but i started life in Cali and SoCal in particular has a special place in my heart. So many places i grew up in have gone up in smoke these past few years, the people there will be in the thick of it well after the fire is out.  I hope they bounce back better than before, but thats a long way off- and a lot of crap to wade through to get there.  If anyone reading this is from the area dont listen to any negative online crap, most of us care very much for you and your community and wish only the best for all of us, regardless of where you live (we get hurricane crap here too and its not fair at all). ❤️ to SoCal and everyone else dealing with a disaster and its aftermath right now

Today, January 10, lots of smoke but no active fires visible. Gratefully the wind is gentle if at all.

I hope everyone out there is OK.  There were a few videos of people evacuating and cars being bulldozed off the roads.  It looked pretty apocalyptic.

Great photos Andy!

I have heard of all the destruction including places I hiked with your dogs and wife before visiting Australia last Fall.

It is mind bending to see in the news what those hills look like now.

I hope it will be like the land after Puerto Rico’s twin attacks by Hurricanes Maria and Irma in 2017 and in several years it will be beautiful again. The buildings and people lost are so sad.

Thinking of all of you in California…

Smoke still billowing off the Santa Monica mountains. Sad (and after 30 years very weird) to see no house lights coming up on the mountain-side nor along the coast.

I spent a lot of time in that area growing up. We used to fish and hoop net lobster in Santa Monica Bay from Topanga to Big Rock and surf fish up and down the coast. I heard from a friend that Wileys Bait and Tackle as well as Moonshadows restaurant are completely gone. It’s crazy to think that so much is destroyed along that iconic stretch of road. Hoping the best for all affected.
