A spot of repotting for an afternoon of relaxing. You can’t beat the weddlianum such a beautiful easy palm to grow and germinate. So beautiful as seedlings almost everyone who comes into my nursery and doesn’t know palms always asks what are those palms there pretty and wants one, I tell them there the wedding palm and instantly a sale is made. This lot are destined for retail shops in my area in few years time they sell so good and there tough cool tolerant dry tolerant and very predictable in growth form. What’s not to love about a weddlianum a must for any garden, courtyard or patio. The lady picture is the parent plant me fine specimen.

Nice palms, that's why I've got a few seeds germinating right now :) The radicle of the quickest popped out at 21d. How old are your seedlings now, happypalms?

They are a beautiful palm. Perfect understory bright shade deep shade. You see the odd one around in botanical gardens. I haven’t tried one in full sun but iam pretty sure it would yellow.

They are indeed nice, be very careful with there roots so sensitive and brittle as sprouts, use deep germination containers they can get a long radical. The ones I have there are about 4 years old not the fastest growing palm in the greenhouse as they say.

I have a few hoehnei seedlings but still trying to get insignis. To think they were lumped in with syagrus genus.

in winter temperatures drop to -2 degrees Celsius, the howea is at the limit but here it grows sheltered from the cold winds that come from northern Europe

A few hours of sun don't scare him, only the palms that grew in the shade burn

Not easy I am also looking for Hoehnei and Insignis desperately

About four years ago, I planted a cluster of three the same size as your seedlings and here they are now, they’ve been prolific seed producers but no sprouts underneath so far.

A nice trio there, get them in the ground and they grow a bit quicker once past the seedling stage.

Those temperatures are similar to places in my area. Not in my property but only  a ten minute drive away.

Mine have been in full sun since I planted the seedlings, all day full sun no supplemental watering. They’ve been fine, but that is Puna full sun rarely above 83F.

Try full sun in summer in my area 42 plus degrees Celsius they would cook. A Mediterranean climate would suit full sun but definitely a shade lover not a sun baker.

Yeah mine would be less yellow for sure if less light, this one is much shadier, same batch of seedlings but is a spear pull survivor.

And S (L) itapebiense! I’m in the same position, would be great to have the complete Lytocaryum sub genus set. Such cool palms for those of us with limited space.

You got plenty of room left on the roof Tim. Weddlianum is pretty common for in Australia the rest a bit rare iam sure there out there just gotta find them.

Pretty sure there’s an old S insignis at Sydney Botanic Gardens but it’s been years since I visited. I doubt there’s many (if any) itapebiense around.
