It’s been cool lately, and that’s when a lot of the non-palms get happy.  Bromeliads really color up and seen to start pupping this time of year.   Sorry about the photo dump, but here’s a bunch of my favs from the yard….

Yeah, you've got the bromeliad bug big-time! 🐛

One of the best collections I've ever seen. And they give so much color to your palm areas. How long have you been collecting broms on a large scale? Feels like your collection has really grown in the past couple years... and I love them all! 🌺

Quite a few broms in that collection. I have various types around the garden here and there. Was not a mega fan of broms due to the mosquito breeding ground, you soon get over that simply because they are great for raising humidity throughout the garden on a hot day, which is great for tropical rare palms that need that little bit extra humidity.

I started picking them up about 5 years ago.  But probably got way too nutty in the past 2+years…..  Etsy/Ebay is a hell of a drug.

At first I put them in too much shade, too rich of mixes, and gave too much water.  Now I do the opposite, and 1 becomes 3, becomes 9 pretty quickly, so things have gotten kind of crowded.  They just keep pupping with very near 0% mortality these days.

I’m starting to get the hang of what each type wants lately.  Mostly finding the right amount of sun for the various types helps a lot.  I put them in loose mixes and fertilize from above.  Florida does most of the work though.  More are due for the ground this spring.

“Etsy/Ebay are a hell of a drug” uh yep 😂

Really great collection you have there @Looking Glass I love all the shapes colors and markings. I’m in the early stages of the disease so maybe this year or next will be the year I devolve into an internet marketplace junkie…lying to myself, covering up my spending, pretending I have it under control you know the drill..
