A nice healthy batch of plumosa. Propagated from my own seed I see there quite popular on palm talk. There a lovely chamaedorea variety to grow best if given an open shaded place were they are not lost in other foliage. A very tall growing species somewhat cool tolerant and very predictable growth pattern. A top little understory palm if your after a bit height in the understory. IMG_4708.thumb.jpeg.ce6ee314be4dae78105149ff2e925e29.jpeg

I’m starting to see more of these around here. There is a nursery that has some multi , 4-5 stems per pot , about 6-7’ tall . A very attractive palm. Harry

Better show to us the stem and base of petioles. Are they covered with wax?

For me these are amazingly fast growing in the right spot. From 30cms overall height in September 2023 they got too tall for the shade house in 9 months. I planted them out, one in nearly full sun, it has barely grown at all, one in mainly sun, It's grown a bit and the last gets full sun for only 3 hours a day and has reached 3 metres overall with nearly a metre of trunk. The entire Chamaedorea genus is under rated in my opinion. Tough, pretty and many very fast growing species among them.

I came. I saw. I purchased

27.35 south.

Warm subtropical, with occasional frosts.

They are an amazing genus, so many versatile species among them. It’s amazing how you can get a batch of identical palms and plant them out and watch the difference in growth rates among the batch of palms. They never get boring to grow especially in the seedling stage changing so much from juvenile to adult.
