Is this a butia?

found this growing in between the surface roots of a huge red cedar. Tried to get the biggest rootball possible but as you can see that didn’t turn out as well as I hoped. 
 

I think it’s a butia palm as it already appears to be going somewhat pinnate and there are plenty of them around the neighborhood. What’d y’all think?

That is a butia the only other pinnate palm that could grow there well is a CIDP and even those (Especially seedlings) probably cant tolerate being under a tree where its nice aand damp all the time. 100% a butia.

Looks like it to me - seeds often germinate in the boots of the mother palm.  Compare to the photo I posted in this thread:

Those are the two most common pinnate palms in town yes, but not the only two

I think so, it's worth a try for sure.  Was the seedling in mostly shade where you got it?  I would try to give it the same light conditions it was growing in and slowly acclimate it to more sun.  Butia typically transplant very well.  Maybe give it some vitamin B1 root stimulator to get it going.

It was in mostly shade, I tucked it in under the canopy of some bananas so hopefully it won’t get too much sun there
