Hello Palm Friends!

Please save the date for our the Northern California Chapter of the IPS meeting which will be held on:

DATE: Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 12:00 - 4:00 pm

LOCATION: The Garden of Dale Motiska in Vacaville, California

Dale Motiska will open his garden to the society on March 29, from Noon to 4 pm. Dale has been planting and upgrading his Vacaville estate for over 40 years. The nearly 30 acre property contains hundreds of adult palms sprawling across beautifully imagined and creatively managed garden areas that take advantage of Vacaville’s unique microclimate. The garden includes a subtropical poolside oasis with palms, cycads and other palm friendly plantings. Dale has grown and sourced multiple mature palms to develop many palm alleys throughout the canyon and up the hillside of the property. The garden also sports many tranquil palm groves which are ideal for reflection and quiet admiration of palms, plants and nature.

This is a garden tour that you don’t want to miss as it is the last time that Dale—the original planner, gardener and palm whisperer—will be hosting the Society at the property. It will also give you the chance to thank Dale for his many decades of sourcing, planting and advising on Bay Area palms and culture. Dale is a legend!

This will be a potluck event-please be thoughtful and bring a creative dish for all to enjoy! Arrive early to visit Dale’s nursery Palm Island Nursery which reflects and sells Dale’s passion for sourcing mature and unusual palms and subtropicals.
