this morning Sabine discovered this in the compost container next to the greenhouse. so we took the agave with us.

the roots are good.

but we don't know the species

Looks like Agave americana variegata to me.  Had one for a few years but as it's not cold hardy I gave it away.

who has experience with it ?

what is important that it grows constantly?

I think americanas are very tough agaves. They like full sun and sucker madly as they grow. I don’t have one that large, only a baby pup that I acquired, but they don’t seem to be too picky.

Normally they grow like mad with lots of pups. The only limiting thing are the temperatures.

Was at Lake Constance a few times the last weekends.  But on the German side ;). Saw a few yucca rostrata in Constance.

War die letzten Wochenenden mehrmals am Bodensee. Allerdings auf der deutschen Seite ;). Habe in Konstanz ein paar Yucca rostrata gesehen.

Eckhard, that's exciting that you saw several yucca rostrata in constance. we were there last time in october 2024. in that case you were practically opposite me.
