Such a beautiful palm, I can’t wait for it to get a bit bigger already a stunning looking palm. Kinda glad I germinated 80 seedlings now. I will be planting more of them that’s for sure.

Thank you for posting. I just got a small one last year. It seems a bit slower than others in this genus but steady , the dark petiole is already showing on the new spear. When I got it I didn’t realize how fragile they are when young . The leaflets are larger than the petiole can support so one or two broke off . It is a double and I wired the two together and that held through all the wind we had so looking forward to the new spear opening in a couple months. I really like the tenacity of this wee guy! One of the palms I got from @DoomsDave and his epic garden!

I just realized, after posting the pic from last fall , that there is a little volunteer to the left of the Basilonga. It is a Howea F that popped up right after I planted the new palm . I had one of my Kentia produce copious amount of seeds a couple of years ago so I just pushed them in the ground where ever I could. So far three have sprouted. As soon as it warms up I will dig them up and put in pots. Harry

They are a very beautiful palm that’s for sure. Be a shame to lose it being lost in kentia land hiding it. Although the two growing as a double would look interesting I would stick with the basilonga. I once got given 20 thousand kentia seed and me and a mate sowed them in a community bed at his house to dig up later on. Then a flood hit his house and washed them all away I don’t know where they ended up but iam sure there would have been kentias popping up somewhere in a big way.

Your one is looking good Harry. You got the green thumbs for growing. They do have a very weeping look leaf and great colour too them.
