I recently took these photos in an untouched area that is part of Ecuador's Choco Andino cloudforest , more specifically -0.127720, -78.773073

So far I have been unable to ID the plant and thought members of this community might be able to help.

Thank you in advance,

Sandra

Could it be a Clavija?  I didn't know they were native to Ecuador.

I just spoke to a neighbor who was in the Peace Corps in Ecuador and he said that Clavijas do grow in Ecuador so that's what I think this tree is.  Which one, I don't know.

Thank you Mary for your input. I believe you are correct, upon further investigation it looks like Clavija eggersiana. I will keep investigating though, thanks again.
