Great idea , Dave!  I came up with a few, my Washingtonia providing a tower to the sky , outside my porch looking up through a Howea Foresteriana , and the tall Caryota on the West side. HarryIMG_4158.thumb.jpeg.5ae5a632ecb948a9e5625d67ce2f0ea6.jpeg

A few more, From left, Chambeyronia var. hookeri, Cyathea intermedia, Iriartea deltoidea, Socratea exorrhiza, and Wettinia hirsuita behind. Glorious is the adjective that best describes this view for me.

Thanks for the inspiration Dave, I’ve been meaning to post this photo.

Well after all those dazzling displays please remember my garden is not quite 4 years old yet. Here is my Archontophoenix maxima purchased as a 40cm overall height specimen at the palm show in march 2024 and now is just above the 2 metre mark. An A for effort ?

OOOOH Dave it's SOOO big.  I thought it would be a bit taller than normal but one that size will dominate the neighbourhood.  I spent the last couple of days cogitating it's fate now that I know it's potential chthonic proportions. It can stay. Maxie is about 18 years old so I will dead or too senile to care when my tiddler gets that old. As for the Xanadu philodendron I wish I had given those more forethought before planting.  Neck high and spread about a metre every few weeks....they are out to get me.  A long daily climb might put Kranky in a better mood though.

Wow! Should be close to mature I’d suspect Darold. The crown becoming hemispherical is a sign that it’s about to flower, or so I was told at Landsendt.
