Michael--

I just spent the last month+ in Texas, including a holiday trip out I-10 from San Antonio through AZ, including your area. I saw many trees of these (relatively) cold-hardy species along the way, unfortunately, of course, without the flowers this time of year. Spring must be spectacular in your area when these all bloom!

Your photos are an excellent tool for ID of these; I knew I was looking at at least two different species. Now I feel better knowing that there were four.

I really appreciate your posting.

Ken.

Kris, there are a few Joshua trees around, but not to many.  Most of the Yuccas around here are of the Big Bend/far west Texas, Northern Mexico and southern New Mexico varieties.

Here are a few around here that I know of.

Very nice Michael.  I love the ocotillo, saguaro, and agaves.  Those are some of the biggest yucca rostrata I have ever seen.

Carlo - That's a very nice looking agave.  I saw something similar at a local nusery this week.  Hmmm..  I will pick up a couple this week.
